About the Project
Kern’s Food Hall, a 65,000 square-foot retail and restaurant complex, opened in April 2024, turning this historic industrial bakery into a must-visit culinary destination. Once the most prominent bakery in Knoxville, this renovated space now features a variety of food vendors, boutique shops, a rooftop bar, and an outdoor event space.
Knoxville-based Johnson Architecture was awarded the renovation design project in 2017. FourSeasons Inc. joined the project in September 2022 under a subcontract with BurWil Construction Company to provide HVAC and plumbing solutions for the project.
Our team rose to the challenge of blending modern mechanical systems into a historic landmark, without compromising performance or aesthetics. From carefully routing systems through historic walls and ceilings to coordinating seamlessly with multiple trades in a complex job site, our crew’s expertise, adaptability, and attention to detail were key to delivering top-quality results.
The Kern’s Food Hall project was completed in February 2024, with all systems fully commissioned and operational.
The collaboration with Johnson Architecture, BurWil Construction Company, and our subcontractors has truly been successful.
